Munachimso Brian Nwana, a 22-year-old Nigerian content creator and food consultant, has added a new world record to Nigeria’s growing list of achievements. Brian visited 150 fast food restaurants within 24 hours, surpassing the previous record of 100 held by American YouTuber Airrack.
While record attempts by previous holders took place in New York City, Brian’s record-breaking journey unfolded in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital. Navigating the city’s sparse public transportation system, Brian walked over 25 kilometers (15 miles) from Chicken Republic in Gwarinpa to Kilimanjaro in the city center.
Starting at 5 p.m. and concluding at the same time the following day, Brian took a nine-hour break from midnight to 9 a.m. to rest. To meet the record criteria, he purchased and consumed at least one item from each restaurant, ensuring that 75% of his orders were food. Despite sampling a range of dishes from shawarma to pizza, Brian’s highlights were traditional Nigerian dishes like moin moin and àmàlà.
Brian’s challenge not only sets a new world record but also showcases Abuja’s vibrant culinary scene and Nigerian cuisine on an international stage. “This achievement underscores the richness of Nigeria’s food culture and invites global attention to our diverse and flavorful cuisine,” Brian stated.
