The Katsina State Police Command foiled an attempted abduction in Faru village, located in the Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina state.
This was disclosed in a statement on Thursday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Sadiq.
According to the statement, the incident occurred on August 29, 2024, at approximately 1:15 AM, when a distress call was made to the Jibia Divisional Police Headquarters, reporting a bandit attack in Faru village, resulting in the kidnapping of a young girl.

Responding swiftly, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Jibia coordinated a joint team comprising police operatives, members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps, and local vigilantes. The team engaged the attackers in a fierce gun battle, successfully rescuing the kidnapped victim unharmed and forcing the bandits to flee, some with gunshot wounds.
The police have launched a manhunt for the fleeing suspects, with efforts underway to bring them to justice.
Commissioner of Police Aliyu Abubakar praised the bravery and professionalism of the officers involved and urged them to continue their relentless efforts against crime, particularly kidnapping and banditry, in the state.
