Renowned Nigerian artist Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, made a profound return to his roots with a touching tribute that struck a chord with the cultural pride of Benin.

As he arrived in his cherished hometown of Benin, Edo State, in preparation for his eagerly awaited homecoming concert on August 30, 2024, Rema aimed to reconnect with his heritage and honor those who have paved the way for him.

The concert, which will be held at the iconic Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, was announced in July, igniting excitement across the country. Rema’s visit transcended mere musical performance; it was a heartfelt expression of respect and cultural homage, celebrating the land that has profoundly influenced him.

He had a meeting with the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki, and socialized with the city’s influential figures, expressing gratitude to those who supported his rapid ascent.

A highlight of his homecoming was his visit to the palace of the Oba of Benin, where Rema demonstrated his respect by kneeling and bowing deeply, showcasing his profound connection to his cultural heritage.

With the royal approval, Rema boldly requested to perform his popular song in the palace’s revered sacred area.

Once granted permission, the young artist launched into his chart-topping hit, his voice resonating beautifully throughout the room.

The atmosphere became electrifying as everyone present, from the royal court to the guests, joined in, their voices blending together in a heartfelt tribute that fostered a spirit of unity and celebration.
