Nigerian-South African model Chidimma Adetshina has been crowned the winner of the 2024 Miss Universe Nigeria competition. The announcement was made during the grand finale of the pageant, which took place on Saturday, August 31, at the Eko Hotel and Suites.

Adetshina triumphed over 24 other contestants, each representing different states across Nigeria. In the finale, Miss Anambra, Paula Ezendu, was named the first runner-up and awarded the title of Miss Supranational Nigeria, granting her the opportunity to represent Nigeria at the Miss Supranational pageant in Poland in 2025.

It has been reported that Adetshina, a former finalist in the Miss South Africa pageant, faced significant backlash from South Africans after her placement in the top 16. As a result of the controversy, she chose to withdraw from the competition.

After her exit, the Miss Universe Nigeria organization extended an invitation for her to participate in the 2024 Miss Universe Nigeria pageant, which she graciously accepted.

The grand finale featured contestants showcasing a variety of traditional attires that highlighted the rich cultural heritage of Nigeria. This was followed by the swimsuit and evening gown segments of the competition. The event was hosted by Victory Wilson and Anthony Abraham.

As the winner, Chidimma will represent Nigeria at the Miss Universe pageant scheduled to take place in Mexico this November.
