The Kaduna Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has brought Ibrahim Shuaibu before Justice Darius Khobo of the Kaduna State High Court, facing multiple fraud-related charges.

According to a statement released on the EFCC’s X.com account, Shuaibu is being prosecuted on a seven-count indictment that includes criminal breach of trust, impersonation, and obtaining money by false pretenses, totaling N100 million.

One of the charges states that Shuaibu, also known as Ishaku Abdulrazak, along with the now-deceased Ilya Garba, conspired in 2017 in Kaduna to unlawfully obtain money under false pretenses, violating the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006.

One of the charges against Ibrahim Shuaibu, also known as Ishaku Abdulrazak, states that in 2018, he allegedly defrauded Faisal Safiyanu of N47,050,000 (Forty-Seven Million and Fifty Thousand Naira) by falsely claiming he would supply petroleum products. The charge, presented in the Kaduna State High Court, asserts that Shuaibu acted with intent to defraud, fully aware that his claims were untrue, thereby violating Section 1(1)(a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006.

Ibrahim Shuaibu pleaded “not guilty” to all charges presented against him in court, leading prosecution counsel M. Lawal to request a trial date. His attorney, AbdulKareem Audu, did not submit a bail application.

Following the proceedings, Justice Khobo ordered Ibrahim Shuaibu to be remanded in the custody of the EFCC. Shuaibu’s prosecution traces back to 2017, when he allegedly impersonated the Group Executive Director of NNPC and promised to assist a victim in acquiring more than 2,000 litres of petroleum products.

The victim reportedly transferred the agreed amount to Shuaibu’s bank accounts in installments. However, after receiving the funds, Shuaibu did not deliver the promised petroleum products or refund the victim’s money.
