The Federal Government has announced that Monday, September 16, 2024, will be observed as a public holiday in celebration of Eid-ul-Mawlid, commemorating the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
The declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, representing the Federal Government.
He extended his congratulations to the Muslim Ummah both domestically and in the Diaspora on this significant occasion.
In a statement released on Friday, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, reported that Dr. Tunji-Ojo encouraged the Muslim community and, by extension, all Nigerians to embrace the values of patience, sacrifice, and resilience.
“While celebrating Eid-ul-Mawlid, the Minister urged the Muslim Ummah to take this opportunity to pray for lasting peace and a more prosperous, equitable nation,” the statement noted.
