A group of Arewa leaders from the North has urged President Bola Tinubu to disregard the alleged gossip and mischief surrounding some of his cabinet members.
In their statement, the elders highlighted that many of the current Ministers in Tinubu’s administration have achieved notable successes in their respective portfolios just months after their appointments, performing significantly better than their predecessors under the ruling All Progressives Congress.

Dr. Adamu Giwa, Secretary of the Northern Elders Political Development Group in the North-West, stated on Monday that the President should rather reward these Ministers instead of dismissing them.
They emphasized that certain Ministers, particularly those in charge of Budget, Housing, and Defense, have made substantial contributions to the country’s development during Tinubu’s tenure.
The statement read, “We have seen significant development in the housing sector policies under the supervision of Architect Ahmed Dangiwa.
“Again, Minister of Budget Abubakar Atiku has justified his commitment toward ensuring discipline in budgetary control and fiscal responsibility for the government financial budgetary implementation according to due process.
“In the area of security, the ongoing fight against insecurity under the supervision of Minister of State Defense Mohammed Bello Matawalle is yielding expected results compared to what we have witnessed in the recent past.”
The Northern elders commended President Tinubu for his efforts in combating insecurity, particularly through the actions of his Minister of Defence, Bello Matawalle, and the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa. They acknowledged their work towards achieving success in this critical battle.
We believe that the actions taken so far by the defence minister and his team under operation ‘Fansar Yamma’ in Zamfara, Sokoto, Katsina, Niger and Kaduna States respectively will ensure sustainable peace in our region.
“The achievement so far recorded in the elimination of dangerous bandits kingpins, especially in Sokoto, Zamfara and Katsina States axis of the North-West, could be attributed to the political will, good coordination and support of the Federal Government.
“To us, substituting or dropping these loyalists and result-oriented political figures would certainly create a vacuum on the leadership development in the Country”, he said.
They emphasized that attempts at propaganda, mischief, and blackmail against certain ministers by specific groups will ultimately be futile, as the success of the Tinubu administration will prevail.
The group expressed concern over ongoing sabotage and misinformation propagated by some opposition factions in the North-West, aimed at undermining the achievements of current military operations.
Additionally, they urged President Tinubu to persist in his fight against insecurity and to continue supporting the military and other security agencies in their efforts to eliminate criminal elements in the region.
