Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim will “talk” with Alejandro Garnacho following his reaction to being substituted against Ipswich.

Garnacho was rewarded with a start following his impressive performance off the bench against Everton, which helped spark the 2-2 comeback, but was sacrificed after Patrick Dorgu was sent off.

Amorim opted to bring defender Noussair Mazraoui on for Garnacho, with the forward heading straight to the changing rooms after the decision was made.

When asked about the reaction from Garnacho, Amorim said he would deal with the situation privately and talk to the player.

“I am going to talk with Garnacho about that,” he said. “I will talk about that in the next press conference.

“You’re making a connection with [Marcus] Rashford. I know.”

The comment arrives after Rashford, who left in the January transfer window to join Aston Villa on loan, failed to acknowledge Amorim when he was substituted in his final appearance before leaving the club against Viktoria Plzen on December 12.

When pushed for an answer on why Garnacho reacted in that way, Amorim added: “It was cold and wet, maybe? The thinking was we would play in a 5-3-1. It is a risk, you take the only player off with pace.

“I felt the team was okay and controlling the game. We made the substitution and had to choose someone. It was my choice.”

Garnacho has since taken to his personal Instagram account after the full-time to post a picture of him being substituted without a caption.
