Reports indicate that bandits have killed six individuals and abducted several others in the Kallah Afogo Community, located in the Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
According to local reports, bandits launched an attack on the village around 11:15 p.m. on Sunday, breaking into homes and abducting several residents.
The victims who lost their lives in Kallah include Garkuwa Alfarma, Buhari Maidiga, Uba Auta, Yakubu Gaku, and Atabata Naallah. One local who attempted to chase the bandits into the bush was killed, and his body was later found mutilated.
In a separate incident, the bandits targeted Bakin Pah in Maro Ward of the same local government area, resulting in one fatality and the abduction of six other individuals.
A local leader, Maigari Ben, urged security agencies to strengthen safety measures in the communities and facilitate the safe return of those who have been abducted.
As of now, the state Police Command has not responded to the incident.
In another troubling development, two nurses and several patients were kidnapped from a Primary Health Care Centre in Kuyello, located in the Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area of the state.
A local vigilante, Musa Alhassan, reported that the bandits initially aimed for the nearby Government Day Secondary School, arriving at approximately 9 a.m. yesterday.
When the bandits discovered the school was empty, they shifted their focus to the nearby healthcare center. They had arrived at the school around 9 a.m. inquiring about the students, but upon learning that no one was there, they proceeded to the healthcare center and began abducting individuals.
Initially aiming to kidnap students, the bandits instead took two female nurses and several patients hostage, leaving the community in a state of fear. The exact number of patients taken has not yet been confirmed.
The assailants came to the healthcare center armed with guns and machetes, forcibly dragging people out of the facility, and we were powerless to intervene,” Alhassan explained. As of press time, the spokesman for the Kaduna State Police Command had not responded to inquiries regarding the incident.
