In a recently released voice note, the controversial cross-dresser Idris Olanrewaju Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, alleged that he paid N5 million upfront to a Senior Advocate of Nigeria in an effort to secure a pardon from the Federal Government for money laundering charges leveled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Bobrisky stated that the SAN had initially asked for N10 million, but he was unable to gather the full amount due to his bank accounts being frozen by the EFCC.
This information came to light in a video shared by popular social media influencer Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, on Monday, October 7, 2024.
The call recording referenced by VDM was made on May 16, 2024. In the recording, Bobrisky mentioned that his godfather had stepped in to assist him by providing the initial N5 million.
However, he refrained from asking for more financial help, as his godfather had already arranged for him to stay in a well-furnished apartment close to the prison.
Bobrisky further clarified that he was not currently in prison, contrary to widespread rumors.
He admitted, “Truth be told, I won’t lie to you, you’re my person. I’m not in prison, but I’m around there. They got me an apartment because of my godfather. My godfather was able to say, ‘Never, you will not smell that prison.’
“Let the world think that, but you will never.” “So, he was able to talk to the Deputy Controller in Nigeria and he said that as long as Bob is not posting or saying anything, they can put me close to the place so I can always come inside and see people, and welcome my family. Nobody needs to know.”
Bobrisky elaborated that they were working to obtain a pardon in order to facilitate his expedited release. “I’m supposed to finish my sentence by July, but if we get the amnesty, I could leave by the first week of next month.
The SAN asked for N10 million, which I could have transferred, but my account is frozen. My godfather gave me N5 million and we sent it to the SAN two weeks ago. He has already submitted the pardon request.”
Bobrisky also revealed that his godfather coordinated the living arrangements with the assistance of the Deputy Controller of the Nigerian Correctional Service.
He stated, “They were worried about putting me in a male facility due to the risk of harassment, so they arranged for me to stay nearby, as long as I don’t post or say anything.”
This disclosure came after Bobrisky previously claimed that EFCC operatives had requested and accepted N15 million to dismiss the money laundering charges against him.
The cross-dresser alleged that his godfather, in collaboration with the Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, orchestrated for him to serve his six-month sentence in a private apartment instead of in prison.
He also claimed that human rights lawyer Femi Falana sought a presidential pardon for Bobrisky in return for ₦10 million.
