Anambra State’s Commissioner for Youth Development, Patrick Mba, and his wife have been released after being held captive for a day. Their release was confirmed on Saturday night by a reliable government source, who preferred to remain anonymous.

The source revealed that both the commissioner and his wife regained their freedom earlier that day, though details of their release remain undisclosed.

The couple was abducted by gunmen on Friday while traveling along the Edo-Kogi Expressway en route to Abuja. They were on their way to attend the wedding of Adaora, the daughter of Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, which took place on Saturday. Tragically, one of the commissioner’s aides, who was accompanying them, was killed during the kidnapping.

While the state government has yet to issue an official statement on the incident, the source expressed gratitude for the safe return of the commissioner and his wife. Further details about the circumstances surrounding their release are expected to be made available in due course.
