Libyan driver detained for smuggling two Nigerian women

A driver was apprehended in the Brega region of Libya for attempting to smuggle two undocumented female migrants from Nigeria.

As reported by Migrant Rescue Watch, officers from the Criminal Investigation Department intercepted the three individuals on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.

During questioning, the driver confessed to transporting the women from Houn to Benghazi for monetary profit.

“03.09.24 – CID in the Brega area confiscated a vehicle and arrested a Libyan driver (‘B.A.H.A.’) for attempting to smuggle two undocumented female migrants from Nigeria,” the post stated.

The driver during interrogation admitted to transporting the 2 females from Houn to Benghazi for financial gain (700 LYD/ca. 150 USD per person). All referred to public prosecution in Ajdabiya for legal action.”
