Nigerian soldiers ambush, kill two terrorists in Kaduna

Nigerian Army troops have successfully thwarted a terrorist attack in the Saulawa community, located within the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The incident occurred on Friday, August 16, 2024, as the soldiers conducted a patrol operation in the area.

According to an official statement released on social media by the Nigerian Army on Sunday, the troops encountered the terrorists during their patrol after clearing nearby villages, Maidaro and Ngade Alha. The encounter led to a fierce gunfight between the soldiers and the militants.

The military reported that two terrorists were killed during the clash. The troops also recovered an assortment of weapons, including an AK-47 rifle and a fully loaded magazine containing 23 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition. Additionally, 11 motorcycles, used by the terrorists for mobility, were seized, with one motorcycle being destroyed during the operation due to damage sustained in the operation.

The Nigerian Army emphasized its ongoing commitment to eliminating terrorist activities across the country, stating that their operations have significantly disrupted the capabilities of the terrorist groups in the region. The troops remain resolute in their mission to protect Nigerian citizens and maintain national security.

This operation is part of the broader “Operation Forest Sanity,” a military campaign aimed at eradicating terrorist threats in Kaduna and surrounding areas. The success of this mission underscores the Nigerian Army’s dedication to combating terrorism and ensuring the safety of communities within the country.
