The Nigeria Police Force has announced the arrest of Bristol Isaac Tamunobiefiri, known by his alias PIDOMNigeria, following an operation by the National Cybercrime Centre.
Tamunobiefiri, who is an anonymous whistleblower active on X.com under the handle #PIDOMNIGERIA, was taken into custody on August 5, 2024, in Rivers State.
His arrest is linked to allegations of illegal possession and distribution of classified government documents, as well as involvement in cyber-related crimes.

The arrest came to public attention after journalist David Hundeyin revealed that PIDOMNigeria had been unaccounted for since August 5, which led to a significant social media campaign calling for his release, with hashtags like #FreePidom and #WhereIsPidom gaining traction.
In a statement issued by Force Public Relations Officer Muyiwa Adejobi, the police assured the public that a thorough investigation would be conducted into the allegations against PIDOMNigeria. The police emphasized their commitment to upholding the law and ensuring national security by leaving no stone unturned in this case.
