The Nasarawa State Police Command has apprehended Mrs. Hauwa Sani, a resident of Doro village in Katsina State, for allegedly carrying 124 rounds of anti-aircraft ammunition illegally. The arrest took place at Rafin Sanyi village in Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, where she was found traveling with a two-year-old child.
According to a statement released by the Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ramhan Nansel, the ammunition was concealed in a container of palm oil, which Mrs. Sani was reportedly transporting to Katsina State. Along with the ammunition, the police also recovered a mobile phone and N78,500 in cash from the suspect.
The State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Umar Shehu Nadada, has ordered that Mrs. Sani and the seized items be transferred to the Force Headquarters in Abuja for further investigation. The arrest is reminiscent of a similar incident two months earlier, where a woman in Nasarawa State was caught with ammunition en route to Katsina State.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the matter to determine the origins and intended use of the ammunition, as well as any potential connections to larger criminal activities. The police have emphasized their commitment to maintaining security and preventing the illegal distribution of arms in the region.
