Sanwo-Olu Celebrates Adeola Adefemi, Lagos’ Maltina Teacher of the Year

On Thursday, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu hosted Adeola Adefemi, the winner of the 2023 Maltina Teacher of the Year Award, at the State House. Adefemi, an English Language teacher at Keke Senior High School in Agege, was recognized for her exceptional contributions to education, emerging as the top teacher among 1,200 nominees from across Nigeria.

Governor Sanwo-Olu commended Adefemi for her achievement, emphasizing its significance for public education in Lagos State. He highlighted that her success reflects the state’s commitment to educational progress and the determination of its people. Sanwo-Olu encouraged Adefemi to continue her excellence and noted that the award brings additional responsibilities to her profession and the state.

The Governor also reiterated the government’s dedication to improving education through increased funding for infrastructure, teacher training, and skill development. This support aims to provide teachers and students with the necessary resources to succeed.

As part of her award, Adefemi will receive an all-expense-paid capacity development training in the UK, a cash prize of N6.5 million, and her school will benefit from either a fully equipped computer laboratory or a six-classroom block, valued at N20 million. The Maltina Teacher of the Year Award is a prestigious recognition aimed at celebrating outstanding educators in Nigeria.
