Tinubu returns to Abuja, signs five MoUs with China

President Bola Tinubu has returned to Abuja following his official trip to China and a brief stop in the United Kingdom.

A statement from Bayo Onanuga, the special adviser on information and strategy, outlined President Tinubu’s recent activities. The President departed Abuja for Beijing, China, on August 29th and commenced his official visit on September 2nd. During his time in China, President Tinubu engaged in bilateral discussions with President Xi Jinping and Chinese Premier Li Qiang, resulting in the signing of five memoranda of understanding between Nigeria and China. Additionally, he participated in the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in Beijing, where, as the chairman of ECOWAS, he presented a paper on global peace, emphasizing the importance of multilateralism and cooperation for fostering international peace.

President Tinubu concluded his visit to China with a meeting with representatives from the Nigerian diaspora organization in China. During this gathering, he emphasized the importance of the reforms his government is undertaking in Nigeria, expressing his hope that these changes would guide the nation toward improved infrastructure, reliable power supply, and quality education, akin to the advancements seen in China. Following his time in Beijing, President Tinubu traveled to London, where he met with King Charles III to discuss matters concerning climate change and related initiatives.
